Digital Storytelling is a modern day way to tell a story. It's a way to engage even the most reluctant writers, allow all students to excel, and create a meaningful work of art to share with others. There are numerous programs available to use with students and many of them are free. Digital Storytelling is the art of mixing, words, pictures, music, and sometimes video clips to weave a story.

A digital story could be made of photographs taken by students, claymation, scanned pictures, art created with Microsoft Paint, clip-art, video clips, and the list goes on! You know that old saying, "A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words?" Well, imagine that picture, put with a little music, and some narration.... Powerful! To read more about the specifics, check out this excellent resource by University of Massachusetts.

"Digital Storytelling is the modern expression of the ancient art of storytelling. Digital stories derive their power by weaving images, music, narrative and voice together, thereby giving deep dimension and vivid color to characters, situations, experiences, and insights. Tell your story now digitally."
- Leslie Rule, Center for Digital Storytelling
